  Paradise - I Think I'll Pass........

  one thing that has always kinda ticked me off with the society depiction of paradise, is the completely bland, devoid of personality, stepford wives-ish look given to paradise pics in the publications over the years.

  peeps walkin' around smilin' for no reason, no attention given to a cultivation of technology, the arts, space exploration.

  there never seemed to be any point to paradise.

  I remember when I was studying, the guy running the studies asked me what I wanted to do in the new system...

  "I wanna build a spaceship!! Go explore the universe."

  He was kinda put off by this. He said it would be dangerous and that god wouldn't help me if I put myself in danger. It seems they don't mention spaceships in the bible, so they must be bad.

  In fact, the JW concept of paradise bores me. I get bored on Saturday afternoons if I don't work; imagine an eternity on this world!! Once I've explored every nook and cranny a million times, then what? Explore it again?

  i mentioned to my study lady that i have the satanic bible and read it.

  she then told me i should get rid of it by either throwing it away or burning it.

  I've seen many of your posts and don't think of you as a troll, but I do have a question: didn't you say that you had decided to get away from the JW's when they...

  1) wouldn't let you see a particulaer book until you've been baptized?
  2) let on that you need to change your hair color?
  3) showed that they received male studies much more warmly than females?

  Blood Needed

  the american red cross has issued an alert that large amounts of blood will be needed for the large numbers of victims of burns and other injuries from todays tragic events.. id like to see a thoughtful explanation from brooklyn or a loyal jw on how the no-blood strategy can reasonably work in horrific situations such as we are seeing this morning.. .

  JW's AND THE RISING DEATH COUNT!

  do you remember when you were a beleiving jw and you heard of some catastrophy?.

  i remember feeling sick because on one hand i wanted the death count to be as high as possible to prove we were in the time of the end, and on the other hand thinking how tragic, i was sick because i had such twisted thinking and i couldn't shake it.. did anyone else feel that way when you were a jw?.

  if not how did you feel about these things?.

  Steph,

  We've had a great deal of difficulty already because of religios differences, but as everyone so far has expressed, mind control is a powerful thing. I care for this girl deeply and it hurts me to see her under this kind of control.

  I wonder why anyone (whether in "the truth" or not) could possibly think this way (Nytelecom and I'm sure many, many other JW 's don't). Are they SOOO brainwashed that they feel nothing but depression and hate, which leads to them feel GOOD when something like this happens?

  Is it sick to any of you that someone can derive a kind of joy from this when it serves their own interests? Do they feel good because it validates the crap they take from being JW's??

  If they ARE happy because it serves their own interests, they are no better than the terrorists who committed this act.

  Hey guys,

  My girlfriend, (a JW) is not the slightest bit sickened by all of this. Her main concern was finding something for her 4 year old son to watch on TV this morning, other than the news.

  One of the first things she said to me was "SEE? Now do you believe we're in the last days???" She also wants to hook me up for a bible study tonight....

  i was talking to jw's that i know about a book that i had read by ray franz.

  they told me that he was disfellowshipped because he was trying to the control the religion and bend it to his will.. i have read crisis of conscience and the first half of in search of christian freedom, and can tell from my heart that this is not the case.

  i see from his examples that he was truly trying to use scripture as his guide.. i am curious of other rumors that are/were circulating through the congregations about him, and on what "basis" they have been spread.

  I am curious of other rumors that are/were circulating through the congregations about him, and on what "basis" they have been spread.

  I have never met Ray personally, so I would also be interested to know the thoughts and feelings of those who have.

  The number of jw is reducing?

  while, i was a jw, i remember that they told us that when the number of jw who go out will be bigger than the number of new jw who enter, it will be the great tribulation.

  do you think that the gb will try to enter this idea in the mind of the jw?

  I remember reading in Crisis of Conscience that the number of JW's world wide was dropping, which presumably led to the 1975 fiasco. He has a chart in the book showing their growth through the 1960's and 70's. Since i do not have the book handy, I will have to post a reference later.

  If whoever told you this was correct in their statement, the world would have ended around 1967. **Jer**

  Hey Amazing,

  Would they have any files/documentation on aomeone like me? As you know, I studied for close to a year and "DA'd" myself before getting baptized. I told an elder face to face, and did not just fade away.

  If they do, what kind of stuff would be there?
  Just curious....
